Hi, I’m Alainna and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Overland Park, Kansas and the owner of Real Life Therapy. I’ve found many of us feel pressure to pretend we’re put together all the time. Not only is this unrealistic, but exhausting. That’s why I created this practice to provide a place for you to feel safe to show up fully— mess and all. In this space, your emotions aren’t too much. Your grief isn’t a burden. Your story matters.

My Approach

I specialize in helping clients navigate complex trauma and PTSD, relationship challenges, grief and loss, and more. I work with individuals, couples, and families with a readiness to share their real emotions, circumstances, and fears they are carrying. Throughout this process, I walk alongside you every step of the way with genuine curiosity and care. As a counselor you will find my approach to be attuned, collaborative, and warm.

My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed therapy, drawing from experiential techniques such as AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)— a model grounded in connection, safety, and healing power of relationship. I also integrate tools from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method, and Somatic Experiencing, depending on what best fits your needs.

Using a holistic lens that our mind, body, and spirit are connected— together we explore how these components impact you as a whole and your relationships. Together we go beyond symptom management toward deeper healing from the root and lasting change.
